Stewartville Care Center has enjoyed strong roots in the community of Stewartville for over 35 years. The 76 bed Care Center was built in 1969 by the community of Stewartville. At that time, a non-profit company was formed with a board of directors to oversee the operations of the nursing home. In 1975, the North Wing was added to bring the total capacity to 109 beds. In 1985, Stewartville Care Center added a 32 HUD senior housing project on the south end of the Care Center which is known as Stewartvilla. With the new trend of assisted living on the horizon, Stewartville Care Center built Root River Estates in 1998. Root River Estates is a 29 unit assisted living / independent apartment complex that completes Stewartville Senior Campus. The Stewartville Care Center operations have a regional reputation for excellence in health care. Stewartville Care Center's motto of "There are no Strangers here; only Friends we haven't met" is truly shown through the dedication and caring work of its employees and volunteers.

Stewartville Care Center is currently an 85 bed skilled nursing facility where residential and rehabilitative care is offered in an atmosphere of comfort and security. All beds are Medicare and Medicaid certified.
